The simple answer is that it feels amazing! It is very satisfying when experiments that you have spent lots of time and effort planning are successful! Lots of the research I have done over the past three years has not worked, so when you get experiments that do work or drugs that work very well against the target you are studying, it feels amazing! I find the challenges of research really exciting. Especially when you find a new or better way to make a particular molecule or when you see something no one has ever seen before 🙂
Yeah I agree with Hannah, It does feel amazing!! You get this feeling of excitement and happyness, and wonder and curiousity that all bubbles over… It usualyl calls for a celebration of some sort!
It also normally gets you thinking about more ideas and what else it might mean… for example, if A happens, then maybe if we did X, Y might also happen!?
But yeah, there is a lot of failiure for all of the successes that you get, but that’s part of life, and success consists of going from failiure to failiure unrtil you succeed! 🙂
