      Hi,

A microscope is a piece of equipment we use in the lab to look at very small things. A microscope is a bit like a pair or binoculars and can magnify images. If you want to see what a microscope looks like, there is a photo of me using a microscope on my profile.

In my research I use the microscope to look at my parasites and check they are healthy or to count how many parasites I have. Without the microscope I wouldn’t be able to see the parasites because they are only 15 µm long. This is equal to 0.0015 cm long and far to small to be seen by the human eye!

      Hi 268drug42,

We use microscopes in our lab to look at the cells that we are growing. They are very small, on the order of micrometers in diameter! The microscope allows us to zoom by up to 40x to see them in great detail!

      Steve
